Jane was born in Smithton, Tasmania and came to live in Kirkcudbright when she was five. On leaving school she continued her studies at Norwich School of Art and later became a Freelance Designer in 1978

A few years later she decided to give up the rat race of city life and return to her home in Kirkcudbright to concentrate seriously on full-time painting.

Jane Gibson, miniature painter Since then she has successfully exhibited in Galleries throughout Scotland and of course in local exhibitions in Dumfries and Galloway.

She exhibits annually with the Royal Society of Miniature Painters in London and her paintings are now finding their way all over the world.

Since 1984 she has been artist in residence to the Dorothy L. Sayers Society (Five Red Herrings Kirkcudbright connections)

More recently one of her paintings was presented to the US Attorney General in Washington, DC, by the Dumfries and Galloway Constabulary.
