Dorothy Bushell studied at the Halifax School of Art and at Reigate where she concentrated on portrait painting in oils. She became interested in painting miniatures in water-colour and exhibited at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition for the first time in 1974 and several times since, the most recent being in 1997. Winner of the Mundy Sovereign Award in 1983, Dorothy Bushell's work is in the private collections of Le Comte de Montigny, the Apothecaries of London, and the Royal Anglian Regiment.
